A few days ago, I saw my friend Bessie share photos of her recently baked sandwich bread. After exchanging messages with Bessie I learned that she found the recipe from Joshua Weissman, a very popular Youtube cook.
I enjoy making toast for breakfast and I’ve been looking out for a fantastic recipe and this one is it! Why make your own sandwich bread? Look at the ingredients they use to make slice bread today. Homemade is better and you know what you’re eating.
After watching his view and jotting it down, I can now share this awesome and easy recipe. Enjoy!
Sandwich Bread
(makes 1 loaf)
-
Combine water and milk in a bowl and warm up in microwave.
- Into a large bowl of your stand mixer, add yeast, flour, salt and sugar and stir to combine.
-
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients in the bowl, mix dough with hook attachment. Mix until smooth. You may have to add a bit of flour until dough doesn’t stick to the bowl.
-
Transfer to your floured work surface, roll into a ball. Add some vegetable into the bowl, rub the dough with oil, cover and allow to rise 90 mins or until doubled.
-
Grease a 9″ x 4.5″ loaf pan with butter.
-
Punch your dough with your fist, roll out with a rolling pin to a rectangle, roll up into a log. Squeeze the dough in (if you must) to fit in loaf pan.
-
Place dough in loaf pan, cover with another loaf pan allow to rise 45-60 mins.
-
Place in preheated 375F oven for 35-40 minutes or until bread is golden.
- Carefully invert loaf and transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Pro Tip: Try using 50% whole wheat and 50% bread flour for a bread with more fibre.
