Hot summer days and nights are here it’s quite common to eat lighter dishes and avoid recipes that involve the using the oven.
Lots of people use their outdoor grills and now I have another use for your grill – make pizza!
You’re going to need a couple of bricks to place the pizza pan on top. I do this so that I don’t burn my crust. You will a need a pizza pan (the kind with holes in it).
Pizza on Your Grill
(makes 2 pizzas)
tomato sauce
mozzarella
toppings of your choice
- Wrap foil around two bricks and place on the section of your grill where you will bake your pizza(space far enough apart so your pizza pan can rest on the bricks. Pre-heat your gas or charcoal grill to 550F, with the lid closed.
- Grease your pizza pan with oil or cooking spray, assemble your pizza on your pizza pan(s).
- Once your grill hits 550F, open the lid and place your pizza pan on the bricks. Close the lid and set your time for 9 minutes. Depending on the thickness of your crust and amount of toppings, the pizza may take 9 – 11 minutes. Close lid and check after 2 minutes.
- Carefully (use oven mitts) remove your pizza and slide on to a cutting board/surface. Slice away and enjoy!
NOTE: Don’t have a pizza pan with holes? Make your pizza in a regular round pan or large skillet and bake at 450F.
