This past summer I went to the island of Samos, the island of Pythagoras for what was to be merely a layover and means to fly back to Athens. The that visit opened my eyes to a beautiful island with lots of fabulous dishes and the excellent local wines.
This menu was perfect for autumn and we will dined at St. Lawrence Market this past November 8th. All the dishes were prepared using Greek extra-virgin olive oil from Nisos Importing.
Menu:
Appetizers:
Tiganites topped with crumbled Feta cheese
Mushrooms sauteed in garlic and moschato wine
Melitzanosalata with walnuts and petimezi on crusty bread
1st course: Samos Style Pumpkin Soup in a bread bowl with Greek Yogurt & toasted pumpkin seeds
2nd Course: Onion Dolmades filled Meat and Rice
Main Course: Lamb Kapama with Roast Potatoes
Dessert: Quinces Roses in Puff Pastry with Cinnamon Ice Cream
All dishes were paired with wines/spirits from Kolonaki Group.
Some seats still left for my December 13th Greek Supper Club. It’s a Christmas theme and we’ll be back at St. Lawrence Market. See you there!
Just stumbled upon this article. Wish I knew you back when you did this. That’s my grandmothers island. Haven’t been since ‘86.
