Where: 112, Rue Mc Gill, Suite 1, Montréal (Québec), H2Y 2E5

(514) 842-0867

Owners: Nicholas and Constant Mentzas

The Food: Although they bill the menu as Greek tapas, I would call them small sharing plates…good for two persons. The menu uses the best of the Mediterranean regions, combined with fresh, local and seasonal. Influences of Greek, Italian, Spanish are evident and French technique for sure.

Consider each dish sharable for two and order 4-5 dishes to be satiated. Highlights were the scallops with foie gras, rabbit ballotine and braised lamb cannelloni. Fantastic bread and Greek olive oil for dunking is brought to your table. Skip their loukoumades (mediocre).

The Drinks: There’s a long bar so that means they have a program in place to upsell you booze. Go for the one of the fine Greek wines on their list. On the evening we were at Ikanos, we opted for the Agyros Estate Assyrtiko.

Setting: Ikanos is located in Old Montreal, one flight of steps above street level. The space is long, narrow, seats 80 and it’s a great place to take someone out for a date or take business associates out for a bite. The service was prompt, attentive, friendly and staff knowledgeable with respect to wine list and menu.
