Crush Wine Bar http://crushwinebar.com/
Where: 455 King Street West Toronto, ON 416.977.1234
Owners: Harvest Hospitality Group
The Food: A chef-driven menu, led by Top Chef Canada contestant Trista Sheen is trained in classic French and she seeks out fresh, local and seasonal ingredients with an eye towards organic meats and sustainable fish and seafood sources.
The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner, there’s bar snacks, late-night eats and buck-a-shuck oyster specials.
On my visit, I had a pasta dish (housemade), a main of scallops and pork belly and I enjoyed the cheeses and charcuterie on a board with some housemade condiments.
The Drinks: Crush is all about the wines and they have their own sommelier in Tiffany Jamieson-Horne. She’s picked an array of Canadian wines, Old World Europeans, Californians and Australians.
There’s an array of artisanal and handcrafted beer and cocktails created in-house.
Setting: Located just west of Spadina on King, this wine bar is in the midst of one of Toronto’s busiest entertainment/dining ‘hoods. One can sit at the bar and enjoy a glass of wine, order a bite or head to the back where the dining area is located.
There are a couple of smaller rooms, ideal for small parties, gatherings, dinner meetings or in my instance, to attend a wine aficionados dinner.
