STOP THE PRESSES!!! Toronto’s experiencing some seasonal hot weather and it’s a long weekend up here, in honour of Lord Simcoe.
I’ve been busy getting ready for my vacation to Greece, getting my affairs in order, making sure all my “ducks are in a row” and eating with what’s left in the fridge.
When I saw that this recipe of rocket (arugula), pears and Feta matched what I had at hand (plus the warm weather), it was an easy sell to try this salad.
The site is called “Kerasma”, which in Greek means “to treat”. This site treats the world to Greek food, it’s marvelous ingredients as presented by Greece’s contemporary chefs and authorities on Greek food.
You’ll find alot of beautiful dishes, plated exquisitely but still paying homage to Greek ingredients and the dishes we as Greeks grew up with.
To make this salad, I grabbed a large handful of rocket and washed and dried it, cut a pear with one of those fruit/apple slicers, squeezed a little lemon juice on the pear slices (so they don’t brown on me).
You can choose any vinaigrette you like but I always have my favourite combo of 3 parts olive oil to 1 part acid, spiked with some Dijon mustard, a little honey and finished with salt and pepper.
Assembly is easy; In another bowl, toss your greens with the vinaigrette and place on your plate. Place the pears on the leaves (arrange as you like), sprinkle some chopped pistachios, crumble some Feta cheese, drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil, some dabs of good, sweet Balsamic vinegar and a crack or two of fresh black pepper.
This was lunch today…make it yours!

This is exactly the kind of salad that I enjoy! A little sweet, a little salty and a whole lot of delicious! I think I might toss in some dried cranberries and a few chopped walnuts too. Mmmm!
I love the combination of fruit and cheese in a salad.
I will be making this soon.
Nice and simple Peter! I do like the addition of honey in the vinaigrette…great stuff.

I LOVE the combination of fruits and nuts with some salad leaves!!! Always a winner and the honey with the pear….Peter Perfect!!!
Well done for snatching the warmer weather! That is such a stunning salad. Is there anything better than pears and cheese?
That looks great Peter! I am enjoying a lot of feta on pasta and in salads just now. I think it would be great with a balsamic dressing too. Have a great holiday!
A nice variation is to grill the pears. I love grilled fruit in salad, especially when the warm fruit meets some cold cheese.
un piatto leggero e buonissimo!
What a lovely hot weather lunch!
This is lovely! I love the sweet taste of pear and the saltiness of the feta is just perfect!
Salty and sweet, crunchy and soft, this salad has all the necessary things to be perfect!

This salad looks fantastic – peppery rocket, salty feta, sweet pears – so very good. Thanks!
With the heat wave, on the Island, we’ve been eating salads for more than a week now. This one would be good for a change. Love the combo of pears-feta.
